Satan Does Beside Me Sit

Satan does beside me sit
To him he beckons me
Yet I to harm have not befall'n
Just sits and waits does he

It is delight to find that I
Could be in such a place
His passiveness, he waits to pounce
I stop him from my space

I pray to find that I will last
His pleasantness resist
It is a masquerade, facade
To his luring voice I list'

I must refuse his nicest words
His mouth is full of lies
What pleasure can I find in he
I must always look to rise

I can't prolong, his pow'r's too great
How can I but give in
Where can I go to find relief
This journey leads to sin

But here beside me, Prince of Lies,
I must look towards the truth
Some faint reminder of the way
The One my pain does soothe

At last my strength I'm pleased to find
In God my Lord and Shield
He keeps me safely on the path
To evil I won't yield

I look at Satan at my side
To him I smile and spit
Today his will I've overcome
My path of truth's been lit
