Steaks

(aka "Trombones")

These are my boys...and girls...  During last marching season, they marched up a storm- they did what they were supposed to!  That's more than can be said for some sections, but I'll make no slander in any section's direction...  Here's a list of their names:

Keith Smithson (me) - Section Leader/1st Lieutenant

Stephen Rau

Brian Brady

Leah Gates

Matt Hixson

Klarissa Burton

Drew Buckner

Tim Evans

Chris Lipscomb

And the Honorable Mention:

Brandon Essiet
(He had to move away to Ohio...so, he's only an honorary member...)

Graduated:

Class of '03

Brannon Starnes - ex-Band Captain ('02)

Jon Taylor

AJ Bass - ex-Drum Major ('01)

Phi Tran - ex-Secretary ('02)

Sarah Horner

And, this wasn't even the smallest section- one of the larger ones, though not the largest.  It was large, compared to the other sections of the band, still- and with their size, they behaved...well, behaved as trombones should!   Despite our "Happy Laps" and "Band Beer" it was a harsh time out in the sun- but we still tried to have fun, and successfully so.  Correct, band does get incredibly boring sometimes, but when randomly during the rehearsal, the WHOLE section just drops to the ground to do MORE pushups....it's an uncanny scene, and it puts your arms in a different position than "^".  Well, then again, the Happy Laps and Band Beer did a lot.  Not so much the Happy Laps, then again...but we all loved the Band Beer...maybe a little bit too much.

Features

Low Rider
(c/o University of Alabama...and Brannon who originally transposed it for us from a recording)
We play this in the stands at football games.  Originally, it was just Brannon, Jon, and me because we learned it too late in the year- but this next year, it's gonna be the WHOLE section!!

Brandon directed me to this awesome site w/ trombone jokes!
